Pursuing any education after high school is an exciting journey, and we believe having neurofibromatosis (NF) shouldn’t stand in the way of your dreams. The NF Midwest Scholarship Program is here to support people with NF in our community as they take the next step in their academic or vocational training.
Are You Eligible?
Scholarships of up to $1,500 are awarded annually to adults living with NF1, NF2-related schwannomatosis (NF2-SWN), or schwannomatosis (SWN). Students who are high school graduates of any age in our six-state region are encouraged to apply. The NF Midwest Scholarship Committee reviews applications using multiple criteria. How to Apply
Our application process is straightforward. Please read the instructions carefully to ensure your application is complete and submitted on time.
Our scholarship committee evaluates applicants on several criteria, including:
- Your character and involvement in community service.
- Involvement in NF Midwest or other NF-related activities.
- Evidence of determination and persistence through difficulties.
A complete application includes the following items:
- A letter from a physician certifying your NF diagnosis.
- A personal statement (see application for the prompt).
- A letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach, mentor, or employer.
- An acceptance letter or an official transcript from your chosen school.
The application process opens in mid-January, and all materials must be submitted by March 31st. All applicants will be notified of the committee’s decision by May 31st.
