What touched me most was hearing how proud he felt traveling to and from camp with two older campers. That independence was huge for him, and for me. It was priceless!

Amy, Mom

Sending your child to camp can feel overwhelming, but Camp NF is different. Designed specifically for children and teens with neurofibromatosis (NF), this experience offers fun, friendship, and personal growth in a setting where every camper is understood, supported, and encouraged to thrive. It’s a special place where kids with neurofibromatosis can just be kids, making new friends, trying new things, and building confidence in a community that truly understands.

A Week of Fun, Friendship, and Growth

Camp NF is a neurofibromatosis‑specific session of Camp Brainy Ridge, led by an experienced camp team that has supported children with NF for many years. Previously known as Camp New Friends, the program continues under a new name but with the same dedicated staff, focus on safety, and emphasis on fun, friendship, and personal growth. Camp NF is held at Blue Ridge School in Virginia and takes place in mid‑July.

Lifelong Connections

Campers connect with peers who share similar experiences, forming friendships that last well beyond the summer and for many well into adulthood.

Safe & Supported

The well-being of our campers is our top priority. Medical staff, including NF specialists and social workers, are on-site 24/7 to provide expert care.

Unforgettable Fun

From classic camp activities to unique adventures, Brainy Ridge creates a joyful atmosphere where every child can shine and discover their strengths.

Affording Camp

Campers are accepted and approved by Brainy Ridge Camps, and NF Midwest partners with them to help make camp affordable for families in our region.

Once a camper from our service area is approved, NF Midwest may cover or reimburse camp fees and travel costs to camp, depending on financial need. Thanks to generous donors, most families are only asked to contribute a small portion of the total cost. Please, don’t hold back from sending your child to camp due to financial concerns.

The full cost of camp is $1,300 per camper, plus travel expenses, but we are committed to ensuring that finances are not a barrier to participation. Financial assistance can be requested during the Camp NF/Brainy Ridge registration process.
