Neurofibromatosis, or NF, is a group of genetic conditions that can cause tumors to grow on nerves anywhere in the brain and body. It can look different for everyone. While about half of the people with NF inherit it from a parent, it can also appear for the first time in a family. NF affects people of all backgrounds, races, and genders, and is often diagnosed in childhood or early adulthood.

Understanding the Types of NF

NF is an umbrella term for three distinct types. While they share a name, each has its own unique characteristics and effects. You can learn more about the Types of NF on our website.
