Updated NF1 Information for Medical Professionals

It can be difficult for general care physicians and even specialists to stay informed about every disorder they may encounter. This includes the neurofibromatoses. To help, in 2012 NF Midwest created a special sheet called NF1 Information for Medical Professionals. We’ve now updated it.

This informative sheet is designed to provide basic facts about neurofibromatosis type 1 and complications that may occur to help guide medical professionals. Anyone is welcome to print it out to bring to their doctor.

It is also included in packets to new families from our region and will be available at our events and through our local groups.

If you are from our region and are not already signed up with us, please sign up at www.nfmidwest.org/contact and we’ll send you a packet of information that will include this sheet.

  • Do you have a group for the Fort Myers FL area? I have NF1. Was born with it with no prior family history going back six generations. I have more medical problems and any Neurologist I have seen tell me they do not treat patients with NF and do not no any doctors locally to refer me too.

    • NF Midwest doesn’t cover that area. I suggest you contact The Children’s Tumor Foundation (www.ctf.org) or The NF Network (www.nfnetwork.org).
